Add a Product to Inventory

Add a new product to Shiplo Inventory by entering product details, variant information, dimensions, return settings, and shipping attributes.

 

Steps to add a product to inventory

1. Open Inventory

From the left navigation, go to Resources and select Inventory.

2. Add Item

On the Inventory page, click Add Item in the top-right corner. This opens the Add Product form.

3. Select or create a product

In the Product Name section, choose an existing product from the dropdown.

If the product does not exist yet, click the + button to create a new one.

4. Enter the product details

Add the main product information, including:

  • Product Name

  • Product Type

In the example shown, the product name is entered as Tshirt and the product type is selected as Apparel & Accessories.

5. Enter the product variant details

In the Product Variant section, complete the item-specific fields:

  • Product SKU

  • Product Variant

  • Value ($)

In the example shown, the SKU is Red Graphic, the variant is Medium, and the value is 9.99.

6. Add the product dimensions

Enter the product size and weight:

  • Length (in)

  • Width (in)

  • Height (in)

  • Weight (lbs)

In the example shown, the dimensions entered are:

  • Length: 12 in

  • Width: 6 in

  • Height: 1 in

  • Weight: 0.2 lbs

7. Set return eligibility

If the product can be returned, enable Allow Returns.

In the example workflow, Allow Returns is turned on.

8. Add shipping requirements

Under Shipping, select any required equipment for handling or transport if applicable.

Available options shown include:

  • Flatbed

  • Liftgate

  • Hand Truck

  • Dolly

  • Load Bars

  • Ramp

  • Straps

  • Blankets

  • Furniture Dolly

  • Stair Climbers

  • Dock Plates

  • Lift Straps

  • Coolers

  • E-Track

  • Cargo Nets

  • Lighting Kit

Only select the options that apply to the product.

9. Add material attributes

Under Materials Included, select any material or handling flags that apply, such as:

  • Lithium Batteries

  • Hazardous Material

  • Fragile

  • Temperature Sensitive

  • Perishable

If none apply, leave them unselected.

10. Add Product

Once all required information is entered, click Add Product to save the item.

11. Confirm the product was added

After saving, the new item appears in the Inventory list and a success message is shown.

In the example, the item Red Graphic is added successfully and appears in the table.

12. Review the item details

To verify the saved product, select View from the inventory row. This opens the item details panel, where you can review:

  • product name

  • product variant

  • value

  • dimensions

  • equipment required

  • material attributes

 

What happens next

After adding a product, you can usually move on to:

  • reviewing the product in the inventory list

  • opening the item details to confirm the information

  • editing the product later if anything needs to change

  • adding more variants for the same product

 

Tips for a smoother setup

  • Use a clear SKU so the item is easy to identify later.

  • Double-check dimensions and weight before saving.

  • Turn on Allow Returns only when the product is eligible for returns.

  • Select shipping equipment and materials only when they actually apply.

  • Review the saved item in the details panel to make sure everything looks correct.
